About Our Books

By now you may have visited our book store and browsed through our virtual stacks of books. But perhaps you are hesitant to buy, because you might be unsure of how purchases on our site work, or you are new to the ebook scene and not quite certain what format to purchase. Let me provide a short tutorial on purchasing books from our site.

First, let's start with print books.

If one of our books is available in print, it can be purchased from this site. Look for this BUY PRINT icon at the bottom of the book page. This means that when you click this icon, you will be taken to our PRINT book store page for that particular book.

Something you should know, at this time you cannot purchase both print and ebooks from the same shopping cart. So, if you want to buy print books and ebooks, I'm sorry to say that you'll need to place two separate orders. But the majority of the time, we have found, customers like to purchase either print, or ebooks, and not both, so for most customers, this won't be a concern. Just know that the BUY PRINT icon takes you to a different bookstore and shopping cart.

The price of our print books is located on the book page, and also on the new page you come to when clicking the BUY PRINT icon. The price in the black "add to cart" icon at the top of the book page is NOT the print price, but the digital price.

If you see this Amazon icon at the bottom of the page, this means the book is available at Amazon.com, in either print or Kindle formats, or both.

This Barnes & Noble icon means that the book is also available at Barnes & Noble online, in either Nook or print formats. If the book is an older release, it may also be able to be ordered for you from a local Barnes & Noble store. Newer releases take a little longer to be available, or ordered, by your local store.

So, that's the info about print books. Next, let's talk about ebooks.

Almost all of the books on this site are available in ebook format, with only a few exceptions. Ebooks can range in length from short story, to novella, to novel, so be sure to notice the length of the book when you are shopping. We publish many stories in novella and short story lengths, which are perfect for ereaders.

See this "add to cart" icon at left? This is the button at the top of the book page underneath the book title, author name, and price. The price there is for the digital, ebook version of the book, not print. You can add as many ebooks to your shopping cart as you like, and pay in one order. 

About payment -- our payment process is through Paypal, with the option to purchase through a credit card. You do not need to create an account with us. If you are downloading a free ebook, you will still need to click through as though you are purchasing the book, but no change will be made.

All of our ebooks are available as a digital download, which is why you see this notice at the top of every page: Digital Download - Available Formats - EPUB, MOBI, LIT, LRF, PDF. Once you complete your purchase, an email will be sent to you with download links and instructions to download your books. All of the above formats are available to you when you purchase--you do not have to choose at the time of purchase, and you can download up to 3 times.

Now, a little about which format to download. Many customers already know what format they prefer, because they have their preferred readers, apps, etc. Here is a quick and dirty primer on ebook formats:

MOBI and/or PRC formats work for your Kindle devices and Kindle apps.

EPUB or Open eBook, is great for your Nook. Also recommended for Sony Reader, Kobo, and most e-reading apps including Stanza (iPad, iPod, etc), Aldiko (Android), Adobe Digital Editions, and others.

LIT is compatible with Microsoft Reader software and apps, and is the recommended choice for Pocket PC. Also great for your laptop.

LRF or BBeB files are also good for a Sony reader, LRF is particularly suited for older model Sony readers that do not support EPUB.

And a PDF doc (Adobe PDF) is great to read on many of the above, on your PC, and sometimes even on your phone.

Once you download the book into your device, depending on what device you are using, you may need to jump it to your reader.  

If you see a book in our store that you would like, and it is not available in a format here than you need, we recommend that you visit our Smashwords ebook store where more formats are available. There you will find the formats above, plus these additional ebook formats: html, Java script, RTF, PDB, and Plain Text.
